I picked up all my parts the other day. Am I really to pick up a case splitter and flywheel puller?

there are some pullers that have 2 different sizes and you will need the second size if you do 066

You shouldn't need a flywheel puller, just take the flywheel nut off and a tap or 2 with a good centre punch and hammer and it should pop off. Look it up on utube, there should be some videos showing that.

20 cc is a pretty big jump for me. I haven’t had a chance to put this saw in wood yet, looking forward to it though.

I welded 2 nuts on a bolt for the "puller". Just thread to bottom of bolt (one nut is flush with bolt bottom, the other gets welded to that but and sits proud of the bolt) and hold by flywheel and one good whack sets her free.

I a!ways take the nut off, then put it back on 3 or so threads and tap the nut with the hammer. Comes right off.

That method works fine for some saws. My experience is that the larger saws and Stihls with poly flywheels can be stubborn. The pullers work great with limited stress on the crankshaft and fw.
Hammer and punch- great for 250, 290, 361, etc. Tough for older 1122s and poly fws 1128s.

That case splitter should be good for you. I have the oem Husky version and have split dozens of saws over the years with it (Stihl, Husky, Dolmars).

So almost 4 months later... I’ve got the jug off, still haven’t ordered a flywheel puller or case splitter though. I may order that this weekend. I’m thinking this piston and cylinder looks ok though!

looks like bar oil or very rich condition
which saved the piston and cylinder
i have seen the case gasket go bad and let bar oil get sucked through from the oil tank but you will be changing it out as well

I think I had it pretty rich trying to straighten the idle up. The film of oil on the bottom of the piston felt thinner than bar oil to me.

I didn’t notice it when I pulled the cylinder but I don’t think there was a gasket between it and the case.
