I've had pellet stoves since early 2014. In that time, I've had 5 cats. Not a one of those cats has ever expressed interest to get on either stove. This summer I noticed Spot get on the P43 a couple of times. The stove cycled this morning, and as I was feeding the birds, Spot decided the nice warm stove top was the place to be to watch the going ons.

Stove had been off for about half an hour, so the top was just nice and warm, not hot. I think she will be disappointed when I place a pot of water up there when the house starts getting dry.

Is it illegal to shoot a skunk now? Asking for a friend.

Not sure about illegal, where you are, but as Smokey sez... leakage can be problem.
Even with a head shot, they can 'leak', I have been warned.
A body shot will almost certainly rupture the bag..
My plan is to see how well they can swim..
    If I catch any...

They swim pretty well, it's the not being able to open the cage that does them in!! :p

I had a neighbor some years ago that did the same thing when he caught them in a trap. Threw an old blanket over the cage to contain any "accidental" releases, and used a nearby pond to see if they could do a Houdini from the cage.....they couldn't.

See, and I was happy to see the resident skunk strolling thru the backyard a couple of evenings ago. I hadn't heard or smelled it in a while, and wondered what happened to it. Of course I don't have dogs, the neighborhood skunk is very patient with people, and it doesn't mess with my cat (and never had a cat mess with a skunk in such a way as to get stinky). Used to watch a family of skunks (mom, dad and 3 youngsters) stroll by the dentist office that I cleaned at night. Would see them almost every night as I was taking the trash out - they strolled behind the dumpster and along the property line - which was about 10' from the door I used to get to the dumpster.

Not saying you guys shouldn't deal with them if they cause trouble, just that I have a different perspective (and yes, I had a dog that messed with a skunk once, the rest of my dogs were to smart, or lazy, to mess with one).

My experience with them (with one exception noted below), is that you don't bother them, they won't bother you. They will actually walk right past you if you don't make any kind of threatening moves/sounds/actions. Their eyesight is poor, but go mainly by smell, AFAIK.

That being said, there was one back about 8-9 yrs. ago that would spray, or just plain stunk in general that would go past my house and a neighbors every night for about 2-3 weeks......of course, it had to be the end of the house where the bedroom was. Neighbor commented on it too....we never bothered it, it just had "issues". LOL

    My experience is more negative.
One.. they keep digging in my lawn for grubs...
then.. they dig under a fence to get to the neighbors yard,
his dog spooks them... and they spray..
Also had one thinking he was going to set up shop under my porch..
    Dug under the lattice.
I do not have that same cuddly feeling for them as some of you at all.

I also do not care for the possum that got stuck in my lattice work of my shed,
died.. and stunk.. and now his friends that use my driveway as a shortcut to the woods.

If something is a pest, and nuisance, it isn't any different than a mouse, rat, or cockroach.
Just bigger. I've been patient. Just have run out of it.

Husband did once, I was out of town a couple days, still smelled to heck when I got back though he had buried it an acre down the mountain from the house. Smell lingered for months

lil bugger was digging under the house and getting into the crawl space, somehow he could move stacked cinder blocks and large boulders, then, he got caught in a rat trap under the house. He left but our house living quaters above the crawl space I almost called in an insurance claim. Clean dry cleaned clothes picked up the day before got saturated overnight, customers could smell it, even my hair. Ugg. Not to mention he got my two old slow moving dogs too many times.

Next door neighbor has horses so they trap opossums, I've been known to help them by use of 22lr (I need practice).

    Bad news....
yesterday the oven in the kitchen went up in smoke.

    BROIL element blew....HELLUVA LIGHT SHOW....WOOOHOO.

Got a new element, but no joy.

Main relay board has a circuit trace at a solder point all burnt off.

    Ordered a new board.

MFG did not install a fuse before the elements.....so the board fries.

    Good money maker..... ARRRRRRGH

$62 for the element....$190 for the board.

Two 50 cent fuseable links would have saved the board....terrible design....

Glad it didn't cause any more damage than to the stove (or I assume so since you didn't mention any). How old is that stove?

    Not sure of the age.

We bought it used 10 years ago when the original one died.

Yesterday, I rolled 12k on the car - which I've had since late December. I use the Explorer for winter driving, hauling and most weekend errands and have about 6k miles on it since the beginning of the year. I have about 2,500 miles on the bike for other commuting miles this season (that does not count pleasure rides - just to work and meetings), so yeah, I put a little time and miles on my butt going to and fro :jaw:
