261 a Virgin No More!

I have been waiting to hear of the fallout with those Mtronic things... Not getting me to buy chainsaws with chips. I'll stick with my 40 year old magnesium. The KISS principle applied as much then as it does today. If any of the Mtronics are still running 40 years from now I'll either be dead or too old & crotchety to care about having to eat my words.

 

If i was alone id take you up on the offer. Her and I and liquor dont mix well. I done drink anymore BC of that. Bad memories IYKWIM

 

I agree. If i used a saw everyday where peak perfomance is important i would have one, but for a serious "casual" hoarder its not.
Im wondering about the technology of the 500i which isnt hare in the US yet. The thought of owning one has crossed my mind...more than once!

 

Had anybody run the Mtronics side by side with the “old” style in the real world? Looks like you are doing good with the one you have.
For me it’s about 1 1/2 hour round trip to the closest Stihl dealer and I’d rather have something I could dial in myself.

put the 261 through its paces yesterday as it cut most of this truck full of oak and hickory. Including an 18" oak log. Maybe three tank fulls of gas though it so far. Running a Carlton full chisel chain.

 

Getting the impression you might be starting to like the 261!

Cut almost the full load yesterday. Red and sugar maple, oak and hickory its victims so far! Getting some shag today! WHOOHOO!

is that the one you put a new coil in? What is your saw arsenal composed of? My 290 now decorates the workbench! Eventually will have Huskihl do his thing to it.
