On the way back from Massachusetts Wednesday evening with my truck full of pallets (my first score that day), i get off the highway and am en route to my friends to deliver his antique table. Just before his house i spot a nice mound of fresh cut sugar maple. Decent amount, nice straight pieces and i can cut my lengths. Rather than drive by i decide to be more proactive in my hoarding efforts. I pull in and knock on the door and lady says take it all. (now this was my second score coming home that night) Phones her husband to confirm. Some wood was on neighbors yard too. "Go ahead and cut and use his driveway to load." Didnt have time yesterday to go but did drive by and the tree service (not Asplundh) for the town was prepping to fell another tree two houses down (sugar maple too). Went today and bucked and took it all. Tree guys mustve got rained out soon after as other tree was still up.
Two hours cutting and loading. Went home, unloaded, had a quick bite to eat and went back for the rest. I guessed one heaping load but was wrong...in a good way!
    First three pics before i started. IMG_1000.JPG IMG_1001.JPG IMG_1002.JPG
IMG_1003.JPG Logs all bucked up. 460 and 261 tag teamed the score. Mostly 460. First time both of my "pro" saws have worked together. 290 was left home. IMG_1004.JPG
    Decent size. IMG_1006.JPG
My old hometown has a tree warden. I found out he is just the director of the DPW there. IMG_1008.JPG
Nice heaping load. Green and clean. Only one section of log had some ant issues. Rest was fine. IMG_1009.JPG
Logs i couldnt take on first load. IMG_1010.JPG
Nuggets and cookies. Not too bad for a "roadkill" score. Usually a lot more. IMG_1011.JPG
Second load. Maybe a full cord for the score. IMG_1005.JPG
While taking a break i noticed one of the other trees slowly engulfing this old cedar fence post. The houses are about 35 years old and it used to be an open field. Trees grew on the fence line.

Way to go Brad. The man is on the move.
You didn’t wrestle that old growth cedar out of that trees grip and bring it home?

nope. Didnt even try. Wonder if it is loose or not. I think the growing tree is slowly pushing it over. Thought it was cool.
This was the score i mentioned in my pallet thread from Wednesday.

The pallets were my only out of state score. Found this on the way home from there.
Are you still pulling wood out of WeldrDave s place?

Haven't been out there much in September, but I'm going out there today. In August I got most of the stuff that wasn't buried in brush. He's coming back Oct. 17-20 to cut some more, so I'll be out there more after that.

I Believe that would go to Firewood Bandit, at least what I saw. His pile must have went on for an acre or more.
