Heres the wood rack build for today.....i need to check with those FFA students n see if they're still building them....definetly cheaper they are... Put it together n loaded on trailer to find a home behind the garage..... oopss....need 3 more treated 2x4x12s to finish the back... I also like my roof better than the ones i bought..
Lumber prices just keep climbing too... Looks good! Were you able to scoot it around by hand, or you have some mechanical advantage?
I have about 400.00 in materials.... All treated lumber (except for the perlins) 5) 2x6x12...11) 2x6x8....13) 2x4x12....16)2x4x8....4) 1x4x16.....5) 39" x 7 ft. metal roofing (seconds)....3" deck screws in the bottoms...2 1/2" for the rest.. One of our members posted a facebook find about 2 years ago that the FFA students in Hancock, MD were building n selling these. I bought 2 for 350.00 ea. I thought I'd give it a go n build at least one myself with a few alterations (bigger roof....sides n back boards closer together) There price went up to 400.00 n if they are still building them when i get the funds for 2 more....i may just get them from them...minus the roof....i'll put my own on
We built everything except the roof in the garage....then i hooked a chain up n drug it out with the little kubota GT... When we got to the edge of the concrete...we put 2 pieces of 3" pvc under it n rolled it. When we were done....we hooked up a come-along n winched it up onto the trailer.....its definetly got some weight...
Very nice work and well thought out. I like the fact its on a trailer so you can move it around and if necessary drive down the highway so it dries the wood out faster! Gotta hand it to you on that one. Cant say i wouldve thought of that!
