Hey all, my wife’s friend stopped by with her husband and his cousin to give me a price for my roof. Her husband noticed my wood piles and we started talking. He has no interest in running/fixing his broken wood stove, he told me to come take the 5-6 cords of 4 foot length logs that have been sitting for a couple of years. Im so busy with work, my customer/friend OWB and the quarry but of course i couldnt say no. Pics to come today after i put in a couple of hours at the quarry.

That's great but sounds overwhelming! I hope it is local, and isn't punky.

I'd like that, skinny stuff is fine! I've been driving all the way to Winchester to pick up beech and sugar maple at WeldrDave's land. IMG_20190923_32200.jpg

I filled the truck, went to the quarry and took down alot more smaller diameter trees To make room for taking the big ones down. When i got home i put the largest round on the splitter ( big enough to tip the splitter if i didnt have the foot down) and brought a few pieces in and tested it, 43% moisture and an hour later its 30%. Been sitting long enough that the bark falls off when bucked but otherwise it’s beautiful. The pile spills over in the back, i was quite surprised at how much is there.

Haha I remember getting a skid that was fully oak. We don’t have red oak like that around here....so I thought something was in the wood but nope.

When I had dismantled it, started cutting it with a chop saw...oh man. I’ll never forget it. My face probably looked like a kid who ate the wrong kinda candy.... I had put everything when I was done in the outdoor shed, good golly. I had checked if something was wrong with the stuff then came here to realize that people have their own terms for it! Level of stink was 25 whew!

No doubt. The oak threw so much heat at me, I used it sparingly and timed it during snaps. Best part about the sources I get it, it’s very much taken care of and I don’t burn it often. Mostly if I know its a skid, it’s not likely a product of the Pacific Northwest. Coming in square block wood, I never pass it up if I can throw it in the back or get several loads of it when I can for the right price.

The sound of trees dropping just never gets old, what a fun afternoon for truckload number six. Got a nice pile for Midwinter goin too

No pic Last night, i unloaded in the dark. 6 loads done. Not even into the big stuff yet. ️‍♂️️‍♂️ The rounds to the left of the splitter were from the other property, everything else is the quarry. CB896C4C-DC73-45BD-A2E8-04A32E73F8F1.jpeg
