Spent part of today cutting lots of rounds. I found this smaller maple storm damage recently, on the slope going to the lower pasture. Lower photo is before. I then went into the six hundred acres to scout. Found a large maple and a large pignut that I had cut and split on last Fall. Still plenty left

Sounds like you have plenty of property at your disposal. Nice looking rounds.

This is the maple. It fell across a logging road. Last year I css thirty feet of it to clear the road. Cut up another twenty or so today.

The tree has been down after the base rotted away. You can see the picture with the splitting maul, that a tree which fell years ago, and had a section cut away months ago, is still seeping water.

The tree fell onto a smaller tree. I saw all those dried splinters you see in the picture. I put them into a five gallon pail. Perfect kindling!

Been working this pignut for the third year. Huge rounds, and on enough slope to create cutting and moving challenges. I will probably bring the Kubota and use the bucket to move them to flat ground for splitting.

No picture but I did a little cleanup at the poplar I posted about. Took the Kubota to it, and maneuvered the seven feet of rotted trunk, and pushed it into a nearby sinkhole.

Now I have four locations for my helpers to split to their heart’s content. They are hosting a student from China this year. Will be interesting to see her perception of things, if she tags along with the girls.

That should be some fantastic firewood! Yes, it might be interesting on how the young lady will like or dislike the wood.
