This is my youngest granddaughter. She is a first grader this year. She was using a 300 blackout rifle. My wife and I were on call for tracking, our youngest daughter and husband are hunting/fishing/outdoor enthusiasts to say the least. Audrey had been practicing with a crossbow, but her dad offered her a ram hunt in Michigan at Ted Nugent's farm if she used the rifle. So rifle it was!
Very nice, congratulations to her (and mom and dad)! A hunt on Ted Nugent's farm huh?? Can't wait to see the pics of that!
Greenstick, I agree completely!! And her dad is getting it mounted. I teased him that among all of his big bucks, that doe will mean the most to him!!
That's funny! Reminds me of one of my best friends growing up. His dad told him that he'd mount the first thing he killed (figuring it'd be a deer). Well, it was a coon. So when we made it to college, we had a rust colored coon, appropriately named "Rusty", sitting on the top of the tv cabinet...
Thinking about getting a youth rifle, searched and found this thread again.... Did the hunt on Ted Nugent's place ever happen?
Yes it did. In fact she is still their youngest hunter. Her dad set up an old VCR tripod and duct taped her gun to it so it is like a mounted gun. They had to tape her shooting and sent it in so they knew it was real. She got a red Dahl sheep. I will have to look for some photos and try to post them. She got a real nice 11 point buck this year. She is still using a 300 blackout.
