... but his reputation follows him everywhere.

While we are traveling we stopped to visit my FIL. Nice visit, really good dinner, then it happens: "Do you still like firewood?" He showed me a tree, near the house & dying. "What do you think I should do about it? I rented a saw but am not comfortable with it."

This is the tree before we left:

The stacks are two deep, about 5 ft high and 25 ft long. He lives in what was a 16th century farmhouse with a large open fireplace so the chunks can be pretty big.

After "we" finished dropping, bucking, and splitting we returned the saw and got a chipper to clean up the mess.

Right now we are in Brittany, in North Western France. Our 4th stop on a "show the kids the world" tour. Had a ton of miles left from business travel and lots of relatives & friends I wanted to see.

His house is one of the newer ones in the neighborhood...

Awesome, KaptJaq been there in early 90s, before going to university, I decided to study a little history! Spent couple months backpacking (European style) through, UK, France, Spain and Germany.

I learned more in a summer than I did in 4 years of high school. What a fantastic opportunity for you and your family.:):tip:

P.S. we need some pics, Please.. Whenever you can.

Very cool KaptJaq ! You should get the SIL ( son-in-law) of the year award for your efforts. Just curious, what kind of tree did you cut down? Safe travels for you and your family.

Sounds like the FIL might have a daughter that knows how to get things done.
