for the 1st time in a long time we had a storm near home with a significant amount of blow down. Work has me 1500 miles away for 2 and 1/2 more weeks. I know my saw and splitter are hungry. ...

Had the day off so I went back to the area. It is getting picked through but I still managed to get a nice load of red oak. This load makes it right around 2 cord I got out of there. [IMG]

Dang, that sucks but work and income are good, lol.
I am jam packed with wood right now so I’m trying not to look for it. But I know it’s there... oh the struggle.

Does seem to be a rarity these days. Every house I see has 3-4 cars parked during the day. Brads one of the chosen few who are self supportive

Agree'd. I'm an interlock technician, so I install and monitor breathalyzers for people who get DUI's. Business is booming unfortunately.

We had half of a twin leader eab ash tree come down (at work) in the storm on Sunday...I was planning on taking it down anyways, but was procrastinating since the tree looked pretty solid still, and is out away from buildings, etc, the problem is I don't really have the room for more "inventory" right now...but now I'm getting paid to cut 'er up and haul it home, so I guess I will make room... (sighs)

It sucks. But there’s always more wood and lots of lazy people that won’t get it.
(It’s the hoarder types you have to worry about)

Pics proof of above...made 1 heaping load in a 10' F350 dump truck. Hand split some of it tonight...tested 16-20%...found one piece at 23%...I'm just going to chuck some of the punky stuff in the racks to burn right away...may give some of the better stuff away if I hear of someone in need...easy come, easy go. :)

Typical of EAB killed Ash, it basically broke off at the ground...there was groundhogs digging under it too, so I'm sure that didn't help...the stem that is still standing looks to be in at least a little better shape...gonna leave it stand for now.
