We started turning wood in October. I bought a midi lathe for the wife for our anniversary. Its been a little slow learning but we've been making a few little trinkets, ornaments and bowls. I'd love to see your projects and gather some ideas, tips and tricks from others. Lets see what you've been up to. Past, present or future ideas all welcome.
Threw this together today. watering can birdhouse (ornament) hickory can maple spout tube hickory head on spout. hickory top and bottom on the can.
Pear made from pear wood. This was a project for a customer. She had an old oak dining room table with broken caster feet. I removed them and installed turned feet that I made to keep it the same height. That table got a re-build and is good for many more years. I made the feet from a seasoned oak split from the woodpile. I also made a cherry handle for a vintage boat fishing rod. Cork top by the socket. I don't have a picture of it, but it is nice. I also made wood turned krumkake cones. No pics of that either.
My good friend The Wood Wolverine made this and gave it to me. Tiger Maple. Sorry to have my pathetic propane fireplace in the picture. Life aint fair...
I’ll share some more pics when I have access to my laptop again. Here’s my shovel handle. Salvaged some primo tiger maple from the stacks.
I tried a goblet, but I'm far from happy with it. The stem is way too large. I was a little apprehensive going thin with that piece of wood.
