Here's an article I saw today. Actually, not a lot of real info in it, but at least we should know what's out there in the lay press. Natural but deadly: huge gaps in US rules for wood-stove smoke exposed
Here it comes.... Set the narrative, ignore any evidence to the contrary, hype up the dangers by showing tragedy after tragedy, demonize whoever's in the way, and eventually there's an angry mob of people calling for _________ to be banned. If nothing else, at least they're stone cold consistent at influencing public opinion.
There are problems in some areas, this has been discussed here at length before, people who burn wet wood are the worst offenders, smoking out your neighbors is a good way to give people a bad attitude about the subject.
Plume of smoke as wide as a house coming out of a "clean energy" power plant...good A woodstove burning a renewable energy source with a slight wisp of a hint of smoke...bad Got it!!!
I agree with this post 1000%. edit: after reading a bit into it, I can sympathize. If my neighbors constantly smoked me out, I’d be kinda pizzed. Say they never season their wood, burning wet. While I have no answers, I get it for those type of people.
Well I'm all for fining the crap out of habitual offenders smoking people out. And nailing people selling "seasoned " but wet wood.
The whole problem (like everything) is a lack of personal responsibility and self education. No one is going to do it for you. Once you get the lawmakers involved, there's no end. I'm gonna stop here before I get going.
You mean the Electric Elite? The Proponents of Propane? The Coal Cabal? The National Guild of Natural Gas? (Ok, that last was a stretch.)
Then there's this.. Napa Journal: Should homeowners be allowed chainsaws? Guns don't kill people, chainsaws do.
After reading that, I can only say that Napa must be a really exciting place, if that makes the local news there...
It's a special kind of place, that's for sure. I mean they have an sorts of gun restrictions in California, they might as well do universal background checks on chainsaw purchases.
My employer operates their own coal and gas fired power plant...its AMAZING to me how many people think that the huge cloud of steam coming off the cooling towers is actually smoke...and complain about it! Actual smoke, coming from the STACK, is very rare to actually be seen...and FYI, the EPA does spot air samples via helicopter occasionally, so they are on top of it...can't get away with anything these days!
Next thing someone will report your breath on a cold winter day. Now if you've had certain kinds of food, it very well might be toxic
