I’ve usually got my wood just stacked up outside. We live in a subdivision so I think I’d like to build something a little nicer. I’d like to get some ideas of what you guys have done also like to know what works or what you’d change. I can’t build a garage so that’s definitely out of the question. Thanks for any and all information.

I learned that, even though I beefed up my floor supports (I thought anyway), I should have doubled the beams underneath. Green oak/maple is unbelievably heavy... :stack:

Looking forward seeing what you build Buttercup

Dave is right, very cool. I would have put pallets on the ground for some more airventilation. Those Waterskies are wicked!

I got a small woodshack that only fits around 2 chords, the rest of my wood is stacked outside, i plan to replace it with one that fits around 8 chords. Size does matter :stacker:

Here are a couple pics of what I did.

I started with 2 classic 2x6 wood racks, 8' long, 4' high. I set them on blocks and screwed on a floor of old treated fence boards, making a floor about 34" deep (I cut 16" lengths)

I used the same boards and installed them on the exposed ends as siding.

I built a simple pitched roof frame and lifted it onto to the ends of the upright 2x6. To dress it up I grabbed some extra cedar shingles for the front and sides.

I finished up the front since that pic, but now I'm working on shingling the roof.

I only store seasoned wood so air movement isn't as critical

In Colorado, it is so dry, as long as the ground stays covered, you don't really
need the pallets. I do put some old cedar fence down. Once that bentonite clay
drys, it will suck the moisture out of the wood. That's also why it is not split.
I split it as I use it. Since I am now on the 5yr plan, it is plenty dry when I need it.

The blue ones were mine. When we started skiing, I was too small to get out of the
water on the "adult" skies. So, my dad made the small ones for me. As I grew up,
I was the only one who could ski on them. It was pretty cool having my own skies.
When we got rid of the boat, the skies were put in the attic for 40 years. When I moved
home and we refurbished the house, I just couldn't throw them away. They are
    perfect for the wood shed.

I guess i would have kept them too and they are perfect on the woodshed.

Probably a little bigger than you're planning...but heres mine. I built it myself last year. Holds about 18 cord in addition to have a dry spot to work/load the boiler.

Nice one! Uphill, your wood wont get wet feet! I got to make it 10 cords i reckon, my brother is a carpenter - hes helpin me out. If i would build it on my own = shotgunshack with only half a roof.
