Well the smooth bark and ripples make me think beech, but honestly I've never seen the inside of a round. Could be a younger maple as well.
I don't know. Looks like beech. Tree of heaven also has smooth bark, but does get a little furrowed when older. You said it smells good.. So maybe Magnolia? It has smooth bark also?
If your being a wood snob..i would say it would be above 24mil btu....there are only a few smooth bark trees in p.a.over that..american beech..blue beech....cmon guys help me out...
