The 12 oz packs of OM bacon are up to 8 bucks regular price around here. Not happening for me. We don't eat much of it due to the cost, and just don't miss it that much. However, it has been weeks since we had some. Just ordered 10lbs slab bacon from a place called Burgers Smokehouse via Amazon. Meat via net. Who'd a-thought.

Got a bunch of Tyson brand bacon to pick up once we get a little room in the freezer, got it for a buck a pound.

we didn't buy much this year. We had pigs and got tons of bacon from them when we butchered them.

Buy bacon? Nope, not here! I buy pork bellies and cure/smoke it myself, easy, easy, I swear, try it, you will NEVER buy bacon at a store ever again.

If you've git a butcher or farmers market around, you can probably pick up bacon ends cheap too.

If you wanna try your hand a makin' bacon, let me know, I'll share my methods ;)

Make my own. Store bought tastes like crap now. Be warned once you make your own you can't go back.

I work my azz off to bring home the bacon, which I can't afford to buy, lol. When the bacon costs too much, its scrapple all the way. Hard for you northern guys to get, but its goooood!

Never heard of it, is that one of those soaking cornmeal recipes? And can I get a recipe, I will make it in the morn if I have everything on hand (I don't have bacon right now, will have to be sausage).

Its an amish thing, ya basically a soaked corn meal recipe. I can get you the recipe. Some people eat it with syrup but my grandma always made a tomato gravy to pour over it. Goes great with scrambled eggs to. Have to make it the night before to set up the slice it in pieces to fry.
