Sold a pellet insert to a guy, next town over. To save the cost of a liner installation, he opted to do it himself...pretty easy to do, fine with me. So, we go over to do the install. Its raining out...tech knocks on door.....no answer, but music pounding inside. He knocks harder, and finally owner comes to the door.....answers the door....in nothing but a man-thong! tech goes in to do the installation.....water is pooled in the firebox of the hearth, and water is actively dripping down. Said tech explains that the chimney is leaking, we cant install an electrical appliance into a situation where its BOUND to fail, ie: electrical components getting wet tend to fail....owner still in the man-thong, by the way. Tech declines to do install and leaves. Owner, annoyed and upset, calls and we try to explain the issue once again.....we ended up refunding his money for the installation and he picked up the unit for, I guess, his own install. I'm guessing no fix on the leaky chimney as well......so, gosh, how do you win with something like this?

actually seriously considering a call to the Inspector's office, as we used our license number to pull the permit....probably should call them and say we aren't doing the install for personal reasons, and that we want our names off of it......

At the very least...CALL THEM and get your name off of it......I'd probably give them a subtle heads up about that too.

Nope, no winning there. Your tech did the right thing. If you get a service call I say you fight fire with fire and show up in only a man thong as well.....

Better get your tech scheduled for a session at Recall so he can have his memory of that man thong erased too!

I agree with the others, no real way to win in this situation. Get your name off the permit and call it a day. You can't win'em all.

I'm assuming that it was explained to him by the tech and when he picked up the unit why a leaky chimney is a bad thing that would prohibit the unit being installed?

At no point in human history has there even been a dearth of stupidity.
