Awrite fellow hoarders, its been like 86°F for the past weeks, hardly no rain since spring. Fields are burning down during harvest, Forrests wildfire here and there - still covered with WW2 junk - so fireworks included. Corn harvest mite start allready in August instead of mid sept. - one crazy heat/draught going on. Boars are likely to spread this year as corn stands weak and dry... plus early harvest. But i think my white legs got some tan there . Whats goin on at your place? any pics? Here are mine: Barley Field a few minutes from my place. I think it got harvested around 2 weeks ago. Corn around here is 2 yards and compared to other regions lookin ok but still not great. A moor, where turf is still dug up. Usually filled with water - not much left. Turf was used quite alot fir heating in the past centurys, this one is used for fertilizer the days. View from a Treestand - Gras is as dry as nunfarts. Walkin up to the stand - there were dustclouds just from walking. Pastures in the Easternpart of Schleswig-Holstein. Corn was only a yard high - leaves been rolled up and hardly a cob. Painting the slurry tank, anyother words for it? Last but not least, me satisfing my habit. Got some Cheery for free and picked up other stuff at a friends place. Leftcorner shows the stash on the farm..still work to do. The Dogs cant handle the heat, neither do i..drinking helps ive been told.
Still alot of smallarms ammo and unexploded ordonance and such can be found. In city limits youll find more 500lbs allied bombs but places like Berlin im sure you can find rusty guns too. My grandpaw worked construction after WW2 and found a 98K Bayonett - which i still got. Thanks, feel free to post yours! I like to see whats summer like at other hoarders places.
It had been flooded in my area since late February-- it wouldn't stop snowing until it was almost May and it rained almost every day since then until the beginning of July. Now it has just stopped and things are finally drying out. The temps the last week have been nice. We didn't have a spring, it went from 40 to 80 overnight around the first of May and the high temps have been 78 -110 since then until last week when we finally got a taste of spring temps. Weird year.
Don't really have any pics to share, but it's been hot here. Getting some rain off and on, but no drought here, nor flooding, so I guess we're doing pretty well compared to others. And funny thing, I've heard that beer helps in the heat also.
Wow. Sounds like your area has been one of the worst with drought for sure. If you could only share with Pennsylvania you both would be better off. Long winter. Short spring. Hot summer. That just about sums it up for us. We are extremely dry here but not as bad as you are.
Dry, dry, dry. I haven't cut the lawn since June. Local drought because it has rained south, north and west of me. Too hot for firewood so I've been digging up "lawn" and sifting gravel instead. There's no real dirt here on the slope so just weeds grow. Replacing the rocks with compost and maybe the 200 leftover Wave petunias will grow.
We must know the same people Sir! Yeah it really is, we had rain non stop last year - this year the opposite.. i dont get it. Still raining? Sort of the same here but i think your winters are alot harder than ours, anyhow the summer is having an impact. even though im wonderin what this year winter will be like? im gettin the supplys ready
Thats another familiar sounding thing, rain only in special designated areas - none around here either Good luck with your compost mission!
HolsatiaRedneck we are doing all sorts of dances trying to hasten fall weather to arrive very soon. Really tired of hot and humid weather.
The steady, soaking rains appear to have moved on. Now it's daily afternoon/evening thunderstorms. About an inch last night.
I have been doing dances to hasten cooler weather also. Did you wear a colander on your head with aluminum foil antennas? I am told the dances are much more effective this way! What I wouldn't give right now for a really crashing, intense, afternoon thunderstorm like we used to have in Georgia!
And a good amount of MossyOak with it, thats the way to do it these days. Ill give it a try the morra, the corn needs some rain Yesterday it just passed us and nothing but a few drops, the City of Hamburg is about 20miles away - they had torrential rain for 1hour plus. Mibes we're more lucky the morra...hopefully. Found this video from yesterday on the net...
The dances worked! It is much cooler and raining pretty good right now and we are expecting thunder showers this afternoon. WOO HOO!
