    Smokers,
I'm in southwest Wisconsin. I have a bunch of cherry and apple splits. I'm not a smoker, but figured there was some value in CSS these species. Is there anything I need to be aware of storing or selling this wood? Perhaps it's not worth anything and I'll just use it as firewood.
    Thanks,
    HD

Some smoke houses or pit masters will insist on non-petroleum based bar oil, so that’s something to be aware of being asked about by potential buyers.
MC might be questioned too- some pit masters don’t want MC as low as our firewood typically gets to.

Thank you. Good information to know and research. I also have a cord of white oak ready to go and 8-9 more cherry trees coming out this spring. Sadly, I'm not looking to even make a profit, I'm just hoping someone can use it for more than firewood and offer a token amount for my fuel. Unfortunately, we don't have many smoke houses or pit masters in our area. I thought about smoking myself, but still have more wood than I could ever use.:D

On the cherry trees to come down depending on how they look it maybe worth while to think about milling them into boards, turning blanks ect.
A lot of smoking wood is sold through ebay in flat rate boxes.
I'd love to get some cherry myself.

For me it would be smoking wood. Others on here do a beautiful job of milling. I never actually had enough to consider firewooding it.
