My daughter has about 5 movies that we all have to sit down and watch together each year. I don't know how it started but we have orange cinnamon buns Christmas morning.
We go to gramma's, open presents, have breakfast, play, watch A Christmas Story a few times, eat something, go home and go to bed. We used to have a big dinner, but about 7-8 years ago we decided to get a big Subway party sub instead. Soooo much nicer to pick at something like that all day, while relaxing amd watching the kids have fun, instead of spending all day in the kitchen. The hardest part is throwing the paper plates away
Open one present the night before. Santa key hanging on the door. Buying or making one new ornament every year. We are trying to start some new ones this year-- fruit cake, cider, Yule log, burning of the ashen f-aggot.

Tradition, run around trying to make it right for everyone in the family, get exhausted. We usually decorate the tree with ornaments that are framed pictures of family oats and present. I call this our family tree. I don't put it up until the last thing because I plan poorly and I don't want the pets messing with the tree. This year was all different. Mother Nature came and shut us down with an ice storm. The tree remains un decorated. No lights up, didn't dare walk on the ice to get to the garage to get our decorations. So we have traditions, but one tradition will be to roll with the punches and focus on what us really important.
