I’m looking for ideas on storage for nuts, bolts, fittings, nails you name it! I’ve gotten thing too cluttered up with coffee cans and boxes and would like to organize and make things easily accessible. Let’s see what you guys have got :binoculars:

I use these, no idea what they are called my grandpa got them 40’ish years ago. Small and large size they lock together via tabs on all four sides. C1A93134-35BB-4EFD-A186-B926C8AC00F8.jpeg B27907CD-7CB7-4CF8-9E65-4971E9B6C875.jpeg

Very cool! I’ve seen those places and always wanted to pick up a big set but never seem to be the right price. :emptywallet: Good thing grandpa had a good eye!

Just started some bins with scrap plywood today for a little bit. 440FF2EF-262F-45E2-BBE3-70745F35E1F7.jpeg Used a French cleat on the back so they will hang, at least I think that’s what you call it. This ones 6x10 with 3 1/2” sides, made 4 of them. Made 10 at 4x10 Ive just got to mount the cleat to the wall and probably make some more.

I get that catalog all the time here for some reason. I’ll have to snoop through it and see if I can find some boxes maybe to supplement what I end up putting together. They hold up pretty well?

Yes. They are on shelves in the van. I keep a little bit of everything in them. I haven't replaced one in nine years that they've been in there. They stay dry

Plastic bins, and a large "junk drawer" in the toolbox that I should really sort out one of these days.

At work we've gotten wooden crates from overseas bearing companies, I keep all my ammo in some, and my personal supply of bearings in some in the pump room.

In the trunk of the car I keep tools and whatnot in old plastic pepsi flats. Works great to keep things from sliding all around in the trunk. Or I could just drive like a "normal person".. NOT:wacky:

I like these parts cabinets. They keep a couple of everything close at hand.
I keep the full boxes of stuff on the shelves at the end, above the bench.

I also have the misc. coffee cans full of whatever. Some of them are full
of stuff my Dad collected. Now I'm saving it for "when I need it."

    ...maybe not.
I'm finding that it is really kind of fun to find a place
for all my stuff in the space I have. ....mainly, because it is all the space I have.
Shelves are your friend. If there is a space, I put a shelf there. .....and once you have
a shelf to put stuff on.....you have new supports to hang stuff from.
Amazing how much room you have when you get stuff off the floor.
Make it mobile. Move it out of the way, move it to where it works best to
use it. I'm fortunate to have two shops. The garage and a basement shop.
The basement shop is one of the bed rooms, now my man cave. The big stuff gets
done in the garage, the fine stuff gets done in the basement.

I believe that’s an old library card filing system. Pretty cool you got your hands on one!

Those bins seem to be getting hard to find. I only see the ones with open bins and not the clear drawers with pulls. The clear drawers maximize space compared to the new organizers.

After a bit of :fart:around today I’ve got a start on things. D1905C3E-2E48-40D1-AADE-DD288D4EFEFC.jpeg The two rows of little bins on the left are hanging on French cleats so I can grab them or move them around. I made a divided shelf for boxed saw chains and sharpening stuff. Drilled a 2x4 to hold my T -handle saw tools and made a little holder for the sand paper collection that’s always floating around everywhere.
I also found an old locker someone mounted sideways in my barn years ago that is going to be my next project tommorrow for general parts.

The old locker is now upright in its new home sporting a few shelves and some stickers of course. 1AE8497A-BC34-4B85-A9F1-F3BF14209EC3.jpeg 42FBEEDB-018A-4B02-BA26-8855EB000D37.jpeg Now where did I put that FHC decal?....

I have 3 of the smaller bolt bins
And 4 of the large parts bins .
I think I got them for $5/each at an auction. Priceless for storage.
