So this has been happening fornthe last week or two. About 10 minutes after the fire ignites, there is one, fairly loud bang. That's it, runs as normal after that. There is no indication of when it's gonna happen, like metal expanding. Any ideas?
Wow, That has to be un-nerving! Likely heat expansion. But you'd think it would have happened before. Hmmmm? Install or fiddle with anything lately??
No, nothing different. I agree it has to So with heat expansion, but what could it be?? A weld break in the Fire box?
IDK, Absolutely no experience with the WP besides checking one out at a dealers shop??? Hopefully others have some good idea's on sourcing the noise??
I hear ya. I have two stoves so I could get by with just one. It's just one bang and done. I am not terribly concerned. It's been running for hours.
My P43 does the same thing. I have figured out that the left side heat shield (external and an add on) causes it during heat up. The only thing I can figure is that that particular shield is made to the high side of the tolerances and the stove on that side is on the low side (or, something is completely out). Hopefully in your case, it has a benign cause!
How loud is that bang, wake the dead loud? My stoves make a sound when they start up from cold, but it's more like a quiet tick...tick...tick...of metal expanding. No bangs at startup, but sometimes on a rare occasion I will hear a loud bang when an evil pellet gets caught in the slide plate or auger.
