I'm hoping to take a Game of Logging workshop in April, and all the standard personal safety gear is required. I'm on a tight budget for this, so I thought I'd ask whether anyone had some older chaps and/or a logging helmet they weren't using. Even older, worse-for-wear stuff would be fine if it saves me some money.

Imo, spend the money on some good chaps. Its worth the investment.
I would suggest Husqvarna Pro Forest wrap chaps 600 denier. I have a pair of the 1000 denier as well but, they will burn you up in the spring/summer. However they rock in the dead of winter. Good luck

Is the workshop geared toward pro logging or weekend warriors like us Hoarders? Be good to hear what you think of the course afterward…

The level one training is fairly basic: "Topics covered include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength." The higher-level courses are geared towards land management and professional logging, but as I understand it, they'll teach anybody.

Sounds like they could re-name Level One as… Firewood Hoarder Tips & Tricks… :D

Been wanting to get a 32" pair to fit me better. I have a pair of the good 1000 denier 36" Husq chaps (Orange).

No rips, tears, etc. They could stand to be washed. But they still look good and have no broken clips.

I'd make it pretty cheap for ya.

PM me if you are interested.

Gonna be a done deal. Always try to Pay it Forward. And having personally met Jon, I can attest to him being a good guy.

Always like to help a friend.

I actually gave a brand new Husqvarna logging helmet (face and ear protection) away in a Karma thread a couple months ago. I got to hand deliver that to a member here.

Hopefully someone comes along with the other gear you need.

Thanks, Dexter. I have a construction-style hardhat, earplugs and safety glasses, so the logging helmet is more of a nice-to-have item. It'll be great if someone has an extra one, but in a pinch I'll be able to do without.

I found a slightly scuffed, open-box logging helmet on eBay, so I'm all set; mods can close this up.

Scuffed up is perfect. Can't wear shiny nuclear orange stuff anyway.
