Finally got mine,a real clean one at a very fair price (much less than they usually had been going for on Feebay) in March from a well respected saw collector/restorer in Australia.Postage wasn't as brutal for that 30 pound package as I suspected. He packed it up like there was fragile glassware or china inside...lol Which was nice compared to some packing jobs I've seen in the past. They are pretty scarce, but they do pop up from time to time, not as common as the regular 797,which aren't easy to find now either compared to just a few years ago.Check ArboristSite.com,other collector forums on FB,put the word out you're looking for one - You might get lucky fairly quick, lots of friendly fellow saw enthusiasts out there willing to help you.
Keep an eye on the Spokane Washington Craigslist. A friend of mine just bought a very nice 2100 Husqvarna from up there. That area seem to have alot of nice older saws come up on CL. I have seen a couple 125 macs on there, but the prices are not cheap.
Here's a regular 797 on AS,located in North Idaho. Needs a little work,as most of these do after years of abuse then sitting idle but it looks pretty good IMO. Handlebar, handlebar brace, couple other things aren't real hard to find, lots of these parts interchange between several different models. Want to Sell - mcculloch 797 fs/ft
Just seen this Old mcculloch pro mac 800 chainsaw Its quite nice but the price is outrageous IMO.I know its a scarce sought after saw & not easy to find in this condition. But even on Feebay the recent going rate is $400-500 max shipped for one in comparable shape. Put in perspective my very clean PM800 only cost $300 last July, the Seller lives about 2 hrs to my NE. He was coming to my area for family business anyway & offered to deliver it personally to save me the $30-40 shipping costs + the hassles of him boxing it up & dropping it off at UPS,Post Office or FedEx... A win win for both of us,I got to meet a super great knowledgeable guy & future contact in addition. We had a nice couple hours to talk shop,he was in no hurry to leave but his wife called & asked what's keeping him....haha
Generally $250-300 minimum plus shipping on ebay with their Seller's fees including PayPal.You might get lucky & find a ''project'' for $200- 250 when dealing locally with someone on Craigslist,FB Marketplace etc.
Nope not a 797 or Super 797. Its roughly same age, maybe 3-4 years olderr but quite a bit smaller displacement. Are there any numbers stamped on left side of that T on crankcase underneath? I cant tell clearly what is there.Going by outside appearance its a 80 or 87cc saw, like a 1-50 from 1959-60 or 250 from 1964-67,both front tank models. The 797/Super 797 is 7.5 cube/123cc & a top tank saw.
