As in: Grape Bittersweet Rosa multiform Tree climbers they all are. I wasn't able to pull them down this past spring, so today was the day. Not an impressive picture. But, there's enough vines to make 5 wreaths I know some friends that'll take them. No pics of the others. As in making lemonade when life deals you lemons, I made wreaths when life dealt me vines.
There you go Mike, might as well do something with those pesky tree-choking climbers. The bittersweet vines have small berries that would make a nice color accent to your wreaths, but if they fall off and sprout you’ll be stuck with more vines to kill
I'd swear that video was shot on the land I've been cutting on !!! I've had them hold up a 26 dbh ash at about a 50° angle for hours while I contemplated how to get out of the mess I'd gotten into.
Yes sir. Looked like a bunch of braided tow ropes dangling from the tree tops. Only the bravest men venture in there.
I've made wreaths with my grape vines. I've also had people ask me to save the grape vines when I prune them. They want them, but can never manage to come get them. I've never seen bittersweet get really big, they tend to die off first. We do have some escapee wisteria here though. Now THAT I've seen kill a tree when the tree host was small enough.
Pesky things they are. My roadside nemesis. At least there was no poison ivy mixed in. My mom used to make wreaths with the bittersweet. 4" bittersweet from a cut couple years ago
He was asking sirbuildalot, not me. I dont think the FHC wants to see either one of us in a loincloth!!!
Cant you zoom in? Old age aint everything its cracked up to be, although at 54 i try to get a senior discount when i can!
Today's addition to the vine list is Briars I pulled them down out of the tree and cut them into short pieces. I ended up with 6 wreaths I saved some pieces of the bittersweet that had berries.
