Snapshot of online article. Owner logged trees for purpose of building home on a lake in my county. Neighbors (who already cut down trees to build their place) complained, county officials who hate logging stuck their nose into it and got it snipped.

While the motive for the owner was to clear part of his land to build a bog house, it affected anyone else who wanted to harvest or clear to build a house of their means.

From my view, it looks like he put a "circle" at-on the prime house site.
What's the $50k payment for? Did he take it to court and win?

fuelrod yes filed a suit, and mediated an agreement the government would stop their illegal interference and pay for his legal costs. The area was logged to open up some ground to build a nice home.
Neighbors who already did that became conservationists and heaven forbid a tree gets cut down now.

When we discussed in school, these type of people were referred to as preservationists. Difference being that a conservationist harvests or uses the resource in a sustainable manner while a preservationist doesn’t want a resource to be touched at all. Good that they were able to straighten it out.

X2! And if I may add please, The individual will put the harvested wood to use as a home that will/could last many generations. The trees will eventually die off and rot, then nothing good will come from those. I respect Preservationists but only in the right context. In this situation, nobody had the right to stick their noses in a "private" entity.

Glad to hear that a court actually recognized that little thing called property rights. :salute:

Blick. Looks like that whole body of water has some quality issues.

I'm 1 County away from Monroe and it's like a different country near Bloomington and Monroe Reservoir is close by. Tree huggers and radicals are common and the Bloomington City and Monroe County govts are controlled by left leaning activists.
IIRC John (Cougar) Mellencamp has a house or mansion on the lake.
