Hello, new here. I have a chance to buy a used 6yr old polar G3. For 3k$ It looks good. Guy says it's good to go. Long story short, I was ready to pull the trigger on a new polar g2+ when at the 11th hour I found out that the company is now owned by a disreputable human. Examples: undercutting dealers, Not backing his product Not manufacturing his product the way it is advertised Basically ruining the polar brand. I've heard 3 different accounts all saying the same thing. Dont buy a new one. If I'm talked out of it, I will get a heatmaster g200 But since the used polar boiler is 6 yra old, it seems like a good deal. Well made by the original factory. I'm looking for different opinions. Would like to know if it seems like a good idea. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Well, if go look at it and it checks out, it is probably already out of warranty, it sounds like a good enough deal...but a G200 seems to enjoy a good reputation too...seems like you need to make a choice between saving a some bucks, or getting a guarantee...
life expectancy in the owb world varies a lot around each end user and your gut will have to tell you if it's still good, 3k is a decent price for a gasser tho. Polar does have a lot of replaceable wear items, so that's either a.good thing or bad thing depending on how you want to look at it. Heatmaster has a good following. Dealer support is a factor, call your closest polar dealer, and talk. I just called.both polar and heatmaster within the past month to ask questions, I was much happier with the polar guy.
Sounds like a good deal for a gasser! They use regular steel though correct? I’m a firm believer in stainless for boilers.
Yes polars are mild steel. Hopefully bednar7946 comes back and lets us know how it turned out maybe with some pics.
Hey there, so undecided to.go with the big money purchase of the g200. Guy with the polar finally caved and told me (thank god) that he welded the water jacket. Weld looked terrible after I saw the pictures, and the water jacket looked like it was in severe need of some heavy TLC. havent fired up the new boiler yet, but im hoping it will help out with wood consumption, last year I burned over 20 cord with a hardy H5. Thanks for all the help. Btw, I didnt have notifications turned on for these replies so I got lost trying to find the thread. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
