This curious crotch came out of a chestnut oak I recently felled. It's about 8' long and almost 5' at the widest point. It might make some really unique slabs. It's way bigger than I could chainsaw mill. However, I do know a local sawyer who has a 7' wide band saw mill. He should be able to make quick work of this.
It is cool to see them sliced open. Had a smaller red cedar with a Y crotch i left intact and we sliced it up on buzz-saw's mill. Have to get a pic. Be sure to post pics of it Mike when it gets filleted.
They always look cool when freshly milled, but a lot of times they blow up when drying due to all the stored tension in the grains going different directions.
