Just for fun I wanted to make the most badass 661 that I could. I told myself I was going to keep the saw, but I’ve said that many times before. The fact is that I never keep new/nice saws. So, now that I’m finished with this one I’m going to put it up for sale and see if anyone has some cash burning a hole in their CAD pocket. Here is absolutely everything I can think of to say about it….

This saw was manufactured in March of 2014 and is serial number 178438345. It had less than one full tank of fuel through it when I swapped out the top end and muffler for a fresh MMWS top end and muffler I bought from Randy. I made a couple of test cuts with it afterwards, but that’s it. Since getting the ported top end it has less than five minutes of run time. You’ll notice it does not have the coveted MMWS sticker on it, but I do have the virgin sticker and it will be going with the saw.

I had the plastics and lower portion of the ¾ wrap handle ‘dipped’ in a carbon fiber pattern. You’ll see in the photos that there is a small imperfection in the graphics on the right/clutch side of the air filter cover.

The round model plate on the fan housing was redone with paint pens, so it looks good from a small distance, but up close you can definitely tell its hand done. If the next owner would prefer the orange & black model plate or would like to try their hand at doing a better custom job on it I will be sending a new OEM model plate with it.

It has a set of black powder-coated skeleton spikes on it from eBay. The original spikes will not be going with the saw.

Prior to the modifications it was damaged in shipping which broke the small tab off in front of the bar oil cap. The tab was glued back on and touched up with white paint. If you’re picky a little filler and re-coat of touch-up paint could hide it even better although I don’t think it looks too bad.

A few photos will follow, but there are quite a few more available on Photobucket including shots of the piston & cylinder from Randy prior to installation as well as various odds/ends/angles. This is a nearly new chainsaw in great condition, but I’ve done everything I could to highlight any known issues or imperfections.

Price is $1,500 PHO plus the actual cost of shipping & insurance. I don’t plan to box the saw up unless I find a buyer, so please don’t ask how much shipping will be to your location. It will ship from zip code 46112 and if you have no idea what it might cost let me know your location and I'll give it my best estimate. Payment via PayPal Friends & Family or add 3%. I’m willing to ship virtually anywhere domestically or internationally. I will ship the saw via the most economic method (USPS/FedEx/UPS) or whichever is preferred by the buyer.

    Thanks for looking.

I don't blame you, but if you change your mind I promise it'll put a bigger grin on your face than that 029 Super! :saw:

I'm sure it would. I do have saw envy after running my buddies ms460 though.

I did get a good grin from putting a new stihl yellow RS chain on the 029 super though...

It's the little things until the big things hit.

    Good luck with the sale!

I'm sure whoever buys it will be very happy!

At least you got a bonus. We were expecting one and it didn't happen.

It's a good question to which I do not know the answer. I know the graphics themselves are quite durable (heat, abrasion, etc.) and there is also a high grade clear coat applied. I've spilled fuel on another saw I had graphics applied to, but wiped it off immediately and over a year later there is no sign of degradation.

I totally stole the look/idea from that concept carbon fiber Stihl that's been floating around. That one has a flat finish which I love, but flat clear coats aren't as durable which scared me...

My only regret was not doing the clutch cover and painting the recoil badge as you did..

I love the look! But your saw looks 100x better!!
