Yep, soft maple. I like it but others think it burns up too quickly. I like to use it when my fires don’t time out right and I need just a filler to get me to the night time load.
Soft maple is nice to work with and nice to burn. Give good coals too. Some give it a bad rap but we don't.
Had some @ 2 years in the stacks and into the stove this past December.... nearly made the stove ask for a water hose!
Yes i am currently burning (wife send down the word to build a fire) some Norway maple. It’s been c/s/s for only a year and by the mm is not really ready to burn but it’s the only thing I have that is remotely ready since I’m into my 2019 surplus.
Do what ya gotta do, right? I was shocked by how hot it burned, and glad I was next to the stove to keep it from melting!
