Tong identification

    I bought these at auction. They will billed as log tongs which I think they are because of the shape of the spikes that grab the logs. These are log tongs and not ice tongs, right?

    They are rough as you can see, but I'll restore them and either use them or hang them on the wall.

    Looks like the ice tongs daddy used to have. Still a cool find.
    Looks like they may have been in a fire. I think I would restore and hang on the wall.

    Looks like ice tongs with longer handles added on at some point. Most ice tongs I have seen have handles right above the pivot. If they are cleaned up, it would be easy to see if they were drop forged or hand forged.

    If hand forged, spike points could be modified to shape as needed. Cool find.

    yes those are ice tongs. Most don't have long handles, but I know some guys that have the long handled ones like those for pulling ice blocks out of the hole for spearing pike in the winter.
