The results ! When I arrived this morning there were still three rounds left over from yesterday so had a quick start . Cleaned up and removed some limbs and got some more rounds off this log . Its pretty ugly going so this log will still be there next time I come out .
Whenever I see your avatar, I get eager to see more good pics! Thanks! Looks like a cross between frost and snow on the ground.
Just enough ''slickum'' on the limbs to bust your butt!! lol. Thats a nice looking load of wood, neatly stacked, and split. I've had a canopy on and stacked wood inside, NOT FUN, but,if your in no hurry its no big deal. Looks like a great place to cut wood. Just don't fall, i caught a limb on the toe of my boot the other day and took a nose dive. Luckily i was ready for it, and all it hurt was my pride, i took a step, felt the limb on the end of my toe, raised my foot, limb was still there, finally i tipped over, lol. Got up brushed it off and started cutting again. You must not have much competition cutting wood, around here, that wood would have been gone a long time ago.
At first there's competition when a area is first opened up for firewood but when the easy stuff is gone then I go in unmolested !
Allan, it is great to see you doing this especially after ordeal you went through! Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs.
How much are the permits up there? Last I checked here, it is $20 for two cord with the permit good for three weeks. It was $10 for a long time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
ah, ha, i thought you might have caulks on, the only way to go, i've got a couple of pairs of insulated caulks, perfect for frost, mud, snow, i really enjoy having those boots on when i'm cutting wood.
This pair of boots are over 48 years old. I got them before Woodwidow and I got married. I only wear them when I'm going off the road or like with the frost when it's slippery. I have thought about having a new pair made, because around the Beaver splitter steel toed boots with a metatarsal protection are a must, but the boots would likely have to be custom made because I have a "B" width foot.
Why a new pair Allan? Wear out the old ones first! That's like someone was asking me this fall about maybe it is time to get some new camo clothing for hunting. Gee, the stuff I was wearing was bought only back in 1987. Should wear it out first. Wife has some clothing packed away that we get some out occasionally and many things are 40 or more years old and still good.
The old boots don't have steel toes and I really like to have steel toed boots when running the splitter!
