I sell firewood as part time/hobby. Maybe a cord a month. Not having access or equipment to go into a forest for wood, all of my wood comes from local tree companies or is scrounged. Because of this the types of wood and amounts are inconsistent. So I really am unable to supply any retailers with bundles. I also live on a dead end street so there is no traffic for a roadside stand. So my thought would be to set up a booth at a local festival to sell 1 cubic ft bags to the "city" burners. Just looking for thoughts on this idea.
Would a Farmers Market be a better environment for selling "local made" to a local grown crowd that might not be looking for kiln dried "bug free" wood ? Push swedish candles too ?
Can't see why it wouldn't work. No way to know really without giving it a try. Give it a try and let us know how you do.
Good idea. I've seen those going for $11 at a local hardware store. They will probably need some seasoning time though.
I dont want to schedule appointments to meet people all day for 5-10$. That would make cost per labor hr too low. I use marketplace for larger quantities 1/3 cord and up
I wholesale bundles to convenience stores. Sell them when you have enough on CL or FBM either pick up or delivery. I deliver all mine. I tried retailing bundles last year on CL with some success. I have trouble keeping up with wholesale seasoned wood wise. Try CL or FBM IMO.
