    Hell, that could be folks from Outer Mongolia. You can do a lot of things via a trash and burn telephone number and a bit of tech.

    Nah going by the responses on the "Unknown caller" site it seems this guy is in the US.
    Plus he must be telling the truth since he is a Reverend.

    Yup just like the IRS scams that light up your caller id with a real IRS number. That and a few of the Reverands are less than honest. You get a twofer for a reverand with a IRS caller id number. Then we can talk County Court House numbers actually from over seas. I like the Micky Mouse Software you have an infected computer calls. I have a good time with them since I don't have a spinning version of that stuff on any of the systems connected to the internet.

    It could be and probably is some other country. Their english is better than it used to be but it is still off. I get those all the time. They want to know how much i would charge to "service" x number of computers where x is some ridiculously large number. Sometimes they even make an offer for some ridiculous high price for service nobody in their right mind would never pay for computer service. like "we need to hire someone to remove viruses on 250 computers and are not willing to pay more than $525 per computer"

    LOL.

    These scammers buy throw away phones then register them as if they live in the US to give them some street cred with the people they are scamming. The last dozen or so things I've listed for sale on Craig's List have had scammers with US #s trying to get me to give them my home address... seems they are selling my cell phone number and address to tele marketeers.

    I had one guy with a California phone number tell me he wanted the drum set I was selling and he'd pick it up in two hours if I would give him my address... I live 2000 miles away in Wisconsin! Fast car...

    THey havent got that sophisticated here yet. It is mainly Nigerian scams. I don't think Aussie numbers are valuable enough for telemarketers for anyone to bother.
    This particular scam is something which would bother me if I ever washed my car (which I dont);

    We get those cranks all the time.
    I just punch clear and go about my business.

    I stopped the computer email crap too.

    I run a late edition of Linux (Zorin)

    Any garbage that wants to install and cause mayhem is pretty much stalled, as any mods to the OS must have Root privilege in order to access (Password)

    I get little popups ever so often saying "Please enter your password"

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I don't think so

    We had the same one for commercial furniture/bulk ink/toner supplies, almost the same words with the commodity being changed.
