Two more weeks here. Saw a biggun all blowed up in the fil's field this am. I try to not think about it much till the time is real close...but he got my mind kicked in gear. Any of you guys further south do any good yet?
Up here we call ruffed grouse, thunder chickens. Size of a small chicken, loud as thunder when they take off and scare the crap out of you if you are not prepared for the noise and commotion. Grouse drumming and grouse flushing
Yeah, I flushed a couple during my time hunting in the hills near Va Tech, definitely get your attention!
I don't hunt them, but they are right outside our kitchen window a lot. This was last week. There were 5 strutting in a line this morning chasing the younger jakes.
