I saw this video on YouTube and was thoroughly impressed with this guy. What's most impressive, beyond his firewood mega stash, is that he splits it all by hand. Very neat also.
I counted somewhere around 25 cords of hardwood. Didn't count the pine. Whew......tired just thinking about it.
Try as I may, my stacks don't, and never will, look that neat. And I don't cut that straight either. I do split everything by hand, 12+ cord on hand now, so you'd think I'd have a body women would pay to touch. But noooo! I still look like the Pillsbury Doughboy's older brother! I guess I'm just an under achiever!
I split 98.6% of all my wood by hand also. Not many of my cuts are straight either, as I'm scrounging most of the time, and don't have access to nice straight growing forest grown trees!!!! I'm sitting on about 7-8 cords now..............but looking for more. I'm the opposite of you..................I weigh less than I did in high school, can fit into old high school stuff..................but my feet have grown a size since high school.
I've got doubts that he splits all by axe. I didn't see any witness marks from failed axe hits on any of the splits. That said, it's very impressive the amount and organization of his stacks.
Without going back to the video, I think he said using splitting maul and not axe. Seems there is one in the video too.
