Crazy day here today. I'll shorten the story as much as possible.
2 months ago I bought an MS 660 because the Stihl dealer I use told me the new 661 wasn't available in our area for "the foreseeable future." So of course about 3 weeks after I bought a 660 the 661 became available here. You're correct; I was pizzed to say the least!

Fast-forward to a few days days ago. Woodrat told me about another Stihl dealer and said I should check them out. I made a plan to go yesterday but life got in the way so I couldn't make it.

When Woodrat told me about the new dealer just for giggles and grins I listed my 660, that hasn't had 2 tanks of fuel put through it, on Craig's List for $20. more than I paid for it. This morning about an hour before I was going to leave to visit the recommended Stihl dealer I received a call about the saw. Guy says he was free and could he come now and look at it. I said sure come on down. He came looked at it, started it, 4 stroked it, then said "I'll take it!" and handed me my asking price.

Flush with cash from the sale plus the dough I saved for a MS 362 I was off to the dealer. I bought the MS 362 with a 16" bar and ordered a new 661! I'm a sick man! I need help with my affliction!!

Pictures of the 661 will be posted on Tuesday when it's suppose to arrive.

Fyi I stopped in today at the other dealer you told me of in florence today my coworker was wanting to look at saws and we was right there so we swung in.

I wasn't all that impressed with them. Good selection of tractors though just the wrong color ones.

Sweet saws to say the least. Remember to bring them up in the summer I have lots of wood that needs cutting. Just kidding and as for your addiction I wouldn't worry too much about it you're not alone. Now you just have to convince the wife that you're not loosing it. There are much worse addictions like a guy I know who races at a local speedway. His line is "You know how to have a million bucks racing cars? Start with two million"

Is that a misprint? Surely it is. No way you sold a 660 for $20.

Your wife must not be too bad if she lets you keep that saw on the dining room table!

I have great admiration for a guy whose wife lets him store his saws on the Living Room table.

Well actually I did. :faint: I have several cord of wood I split and stacked 3 and 4 years ago that I cut between 24 and 26" in length for my fireplace. That fireplace is now an insert so I have to shorten a lot of wood! And that's what I did today with the new saw.

As far as saws go, I may just have a new best friend! That MS 362 with the 16" bar is light and easy to maneuver and went through about a half cord each of black locust and ash that's 3 to 4 years seasoned like it wasn't even there! It's so easy to start that I didn't use the decompression valve after the first start. It's a great little machine that, now that I've used it, has taken away so0me of that buyer's remorse I was suffering from yesterday.

I can't wait to try the 661, but I already know it's a heavy beast. I dropped the bar size down from a 32" to a 28" and I'm thinking I should have purchased 28" ES Light bar. We'll see....
