The areas in blue have a frost advisory for tonight and probably tomorrow night. Time to get the wood around folks!
I had a window open last night, woke up around 3 or 4am to the smell of woodsmoke in the air, one of my neighbors had the same idea.
I burned some papers and scrap two nights ago... Coldest August I remember. I do hate to see an early end to the growing season Due to frost.
Hmm, our forecast got changed to 37 tonight. Was 41 if I remember right. Still hasn't hit 60 OAT yet.
It's been a crazy azz summer (lack of) but we pushed in some wood yesterday. It's just some dead pine I cut last spring. I'm thinking we'll have some Apple Cake with coffee after we get the fire going.
Wow We're have leaves starting to fall; but no frost yet. Still in the "Rain forest" here :-( Midd 40°s at night, mid 50°s daytime
44* for the low here on Friday night. I might just have to do it! I just had shoulder surgery a couple weeks ago so I'll have to see if my brother will come over and run the brush through my chimney. I'm sure it's in fine shape but I'm still going to make sure of it. Better safe than sorry! Back up to almost 80* on Saturday!
Was tempted a couple days last week when it didn't even hit 60 for a high. It's been a cold summer for sure.
We are going to have a cool day tomorrow but it will still reach 70s, and then a warm up to the 80s by Sunday. I'm getting some wood loaded into the cellar tomorrow and Saturday. Well, my sons are going to do it for me, I'm still recovering from surgery. I usually don't kick off the woodstove until the end of September or so. But I always look forward to burning that first fire!!
Ok, so I went to check the weather forecast because your weather usually gets here in a day or two and wunderground serves up what looks like an iOS web page. WTF. Only positive I see on that ugly new format is the local weather stations section actually loads data where the usual browser page hasn't been. We get 43ºF on Friday night. Will have to look around for open windows Friday.
On another note, I did finally get around to pre ordering a couple of tons of pellets at Orschelns today. They said they're getting Oaks.
Not at my house, but my BIL has had it last week...roof's and windshields. Again this morning for him but not us. Gonna have to start taking pics of the here and there leaves turning color.
Fire just started here. Supposed to go down to almost freezing tonight. Not too worried about the garden. It's been a disaster for gardening this so-called summer so there's not much to lose to frost.
