fishingpol , get your shovel ready, we could get some big storms this winter. From SavUWeather: On the opposite coast, the Northeast and Southeast will also help bear the brunt of El NiƱo's effects. Above-average storminess will greet cities such as Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Newport and Raleigh, but the million dollar question remains: In what form will the precipitation fall? The weather pattern threatens to send chilly air masses into the Eastern U.S., which could result in a corridor of snow from Texas up into the spine of the Appalachians. However, the wild card will be whether the timing of the cold air matches up with the timing of the precipitation. "If so, there could be a few big storms that blow our forecasts out of the water," Noll said. "That's a risk right there."
It could be hard to surpass the snow totals from last winter. I'm ready to go. Bring it. I've never really followed long term weather predictions. I just wait a few days before the storm when the data is in and go from there. But no doubt El Nino and la Nina have absolute relevance.
We'll keep an eye on it for you, things could change ......... be sure to check back .......................
Last year started out with a horrible 2-3 day storm! A lot of guys couldn't make it into their deer camps! Then it was pretty much average after that.
Some day I am going to find a nice used snow thrower. I'm getting tied of shoveling all the places I can't use the loader. LOL only need a narrow path in a lot of places.
El Nino has brought us a drought since August. I say bring it on. I could go with a dry winter or little snow after the polar vortex of the last few years. BRING IT ON, BABY!!! Lol. Plus, dang, it's nice to see the sun. Cloud banks kill me.
Heck it's not even a real snowstorm until they shut down the interstate that's got to be more than 4 inches an hour for 3 hours... the valentine day storm several years ago was delivering groceries to neighbors on snowmobile. . you know it's a good storm not when stores shelves are empty..... but their parking lots are!
Yeah that's the point in 3 hours the state plows fall behind and only do interstate and major highways. Valentine day storm got 42 inches in 24 hours. that was a blast! brothers 1 ton dually with chains got stuck.. Town opened roads to snow machines. Snow doesn't slow us down as much as the ice storms...
