So the title is because I was annoying my son after finding this score a few miles from home. As we were unloading my truck, every straight, perfectly cut piece I handed him, I would say, " That's some real nice ash, Eddie!!!" His middle name is actually Edward. He got annoyed after the fifth time. Anyway, I found this score with a bunch of pine, maple and the gold, about 20 ash rounds at 24" plus diameter. The pain in the back, literally, is lumping them out. About 50 yards into the property, and nothing but mud, so no go with the truck. I did have my handtruck, so that helped a bit, but it's still a long, rough haul to the truck. I managed to quarter a few just to lift them, then settled on taking the easy pickings of maple nearest to the road for the last load of the day. I was thinking about taking a wheelbarrow, splitting the ash there, and hauling out the splits. Sorry, no truckload pics, it was dark at the last load. I hope the landowner doesn't pay the tree service guys to haul that stuff away anytime soon.
“Eddie?...Eddie?” “You surprised Clarke?” “Eddie, I wouldn't be more surprised if i woke up with my head sewn to the carpet”
Yep, probably will today, and on the weekend. Free wood in my area is rare...most people think they have gold. I would really like to message them and explain what firewood is....To me it's cut to size, and split, at the least. Otherwise, it's brush, or logs that are only worth a fraction until processed. Here is an example, I see it all the time. That is far from lumber, and a few miles away from being firewood. How about you pay me 20 bucks to haul it away for you?
I would really like to call some of these people out....but you never know who knows who. I try to keep a low profile online. Maybe I would offer to haul it away for free and donate it this year to the football bonfire rally.
So here is the new pics...Some real nice ash. Blurry pic, but the mode of transportation, and my $5 monster maul I found at an estate sale a couple years ago. Finally found some wood to use it on. That stack is now double today. 2 days, 4 loads. about a cord and a half of real nice ash. The land owner told me yesterday that a couple guys showed up, walked around and left. They didn't want to mess with that monster stuff. Sometimes the hard work pays off. In about 6 hours of work, I got more than a months worth of heat. Sounds and looks like the landowner won't be paying anybody anytime soon to remove the wood and branches...he was using lopers to cut stuff up, and stuff it into a curbside container. I offered to help by hauling some brush to the compost site with my trailer, but he said you are doing me a huge enough favor by taking all the big stuff.
Wow! I get the picture on why people like ash so much, very nice looking wood, bark peels off and likely good to burn in a short time! Your pick up is sweet looking!
Facebook people are typically pretty fragile and easily offended. Lumber? Lol. You, I, and everyone else on FHC knows better, but some people..... Nice score!
It’s not going in our yard Russ, it’s going in our living room. Quite possibly one of the best movies of all time.
Wow nice job, you should be damm proud of that one. Good for you offering to help with the brush too. You know who he’ll be calling to remove the next one.. couple guys passes on that, must have been a couple of millennials The inner pieces of those big barkless rounds are going to be beautiful pieces of wood Pricey106
“ Save the neck for me Clarke” “ look Russ no lines” oh man Winston i could go on forever every year i plug the Christmas lights in with my hands over my head like he does when he finally gets them on. Im Eddie because im more of a redneck hillbilly (and proud) next year im getting the dickie, sweater and pants outfit for Christmas. Yup best movie ever “its good “ its good”
Iv been on Facebook ( drama club) for a month and iv already seen the same people making smartass comments. Some of these people are probably miserable in there own lives. With all of the info and moisture stuff iv been posting and my beliefs on wood drying in giant piles, processing logs into a delivery truck etc. it finally happened, a big firewood guy and his buddy attacked me about a post. Two replys armed with information and too much proof to deny that everything i was saying in all of my posts is true. They backed off real quick and started backpedaling. Dont mess with an FHC member about wood. I also had regular people chiming in backing me up, some guy put a meme of a minister and told me go on my brother preach to these a$$,,$&?. I now know why it took me all these years to go on FB. However its amazing for a business.
Thats why this is the extent of my social media! I joined FB recently to get info on a chainsaw and wish i hadnt.
Delete your account! I never joined for just that reason! Being I was Senior enlisted in the military, it was really frowned upon and a quick way to find yourself in "Hot" water...
