Working on making some target stands that break down nice and easy, just using scrap materials I have on hand. The first one is done, but my backup battery didn't charge (turns out some little girl unplugged the charger to charge her tablet) so I am currently on a union mandated break!

The 3/4" plywood is held by friction only so it will pull right out to fit in the back of Henry.

I have mine made of steel. Rectangle frame with pipe over the uprights with legs to spin and hit the ground wherever it's convenient. Can tape cardboard on it or hang the 12x24 steel plate on it.

Just got the other one assembled, very happy with how they turned out. I can just pull the pieces of plywood out of the two target stands and stack all the parts up. Reassembly out at camp should take about 15 seconds.

If you're only shooting paper pvc pipe works great for a stand that will come apart. 2 T and a 10' stick can make a nice stand. Make an H on the ground part and 2 uprights. Take cardboard on and there you go. Can add a top piece across with 2 more 90s

Looking good Grizzly Adam! Google PVC target stands for light weight and portability.

    Edit:
Sorry mdavlee , you beat me to it with the DIY PVC targets.

They look good too, but I didn't have a bunch of PVC laying around in the garage.

Had a great time out there and my shooting with the 9mm is rapidly improving. Made another leap forward today.
