Usually you push a rod during startup and reloads and the biometalic air control is then set to cruise on its own. More and more stoves are taking away user controls since the 2020 epa tightened the noose on emissions.
I have this stove. It worked well this winter but I do have problems with it. The ACC ( I don’t use this feature b/c I don’t trust it) is used to keep the air supply fully open till the stove gets up to temp. When it reaches temp the air goes to the setting you have set for how much primary air you want. I had trouble controlling the stove so mine would get way to hot with this feature.
I bought this stove, liked the large glass for viewing. It was nice until the glass fell into the stove in the middle of the night while there was a fire going. Took many calls over several weeks to get them to replace the door. At first they told me my problem was the first they had heard of this(not true if you do some research). Later I was told that they had several reports that day. I put the new door on and sold the stove. ESW had very poor customer service in my situation.
I purchased mine for almost nothing because the door hing and some bricks were damaged. When I finally got in touch with someone from the company they sent out new parts right away. Other attempts to contact them for other reasons were not as fruitful. I will agree with Mitch, you get what you pay for. That’s why I am going with a Woodstock stove. If you don’t want to pay a bit more for a better stove then go with the Lowe’s stove. They do work. You will go through more wood than a nicer stove. It heated my house and I am VERY glad I had it when we had multiple 0* days here.
