I talked the boss at work into letting me pickup a new pole saw and went with the stihl hta86 36v. I decided to go battery powered because it will only get occasional use compared to some of our other equipment. I did opt for the highest amp hr battery they had. Let me tell ya this thing is a bad mamma jamma! I've cut probably 200 limbs (1" to 5") since last week and it still has 50% battery life.

Nice! I have a two year old Dewalt 20v one. Have several Dewalt cordless tools and batteries already. Does pretty good with a 6 amp battery. Not something i use a lot but handy for sure. My only gripe is it seeps bar oil like crazy when not in use.

X2 but haven't noticed any oil seepage. Not much use on it yet but very happy with purchase. Will be using it at my parents place this fall.

I have one by Milwaukee and I and onlookers were amazed when I used it first after buying it. I also have the hedge trimmer and I use it for that some but also for using as a scythe to 'weedeat' tall grass and weeds. It has two speeds, the lower one conserving juice. I've had it a couple years and note that the chain could use a sharpening. A replacement chain is only $10 but you have to buy two of them far as I can tell, and I don't need two new ones! Having one spare makes sense. I have three Milwaukee batteries for this device and a couple of other Milwaukee ones. Of course, in a day, that would not be necessary unless you are using it all day.

I am sure the Stihl is great; the Milwaukee has pleased me.

I too have the Dewalt and they really get the job done. I consider it an excellent purchase.

If we had a dedicated line of cordless tools here i probably would've gone with a pole saw of that brand but our tools are pretty mix matched so i went with the stihl. I'm really impressed with it. I finally killed the battery today after 4 days of trimming trees. Probably cut another 150 limbs today before it died.

    +1!
    That’s a great deal longer than a 4ah 20v. :dex:

I keep the end wrapped in a plastic bag when in the box stored. Gotta wipe in down before each use.
