Any reason you stack them while that big? They wont be split right away? My back hurts just looking at that! Even when i quarter/sixth the big uns at the honey hole they are heavy to load!

I was thinking stacking as in splits... not buckers :hair:... I’d be using some mechanical advantage....:dex:

Gravity is not your friend when the rounds are that big. That’s a lot of work.

I used to stack rounds. When I was sharing a splitter and said splitter was about 25 miles away and it could be months to where I'd have it my yard. Anything to keep them off the ground getting dirty and staying damp/wet. Did not like the extra effort/work.
I'll still stack rounds if it is Winter, I'm cutting in the woods that are over the big hill and the rounds are going to be there for a while before I get to hauling them out. Turf tires, snow/ice and a steep hill are not a fine mix.

I stacked them with my excavator....:D made my back hurt just thinking about it though. I just wanted to get some off the ground to kick off drying. It also looked cool in my head. WhenI dumped the trailer, it was crowding my driveway, so I stacked up the straighter rounds. Still several on the ground I could not stack.

I stacked rounds before. Had access to a 16 acre lot of wood and wanted to hoard it as quick as possible. Them bugger sure do produce lots of splits!

    Same thing here!!

I was in the market for a splitter but talking it over with my brother in law he admittedly asked I reconsider as he has a splitter and is about 10 miles from home and 5 miles from my work. He graciously offered it to me whenever I need it or want it. I think I've used it more than he has as I burn more than he does. However I really would like to personally own one so I can get stuff split sooner and not have to worry if it ever broke down on my watch.
