Stack Depth

I use pallets on top of stacks. It ties the stacks together and creates an airspace between tarp and firewood.

 

Good idea, the warden won’t allow tarps here.

 

1 use 1” diameter branches to tie the two sides together about 1/3 of the way up my stacks. I cut them 36-40” in length. I also use plastic tie straps to tie the cribbed ends back into the stacks using a staple gun.

We have a problem. (More than one if you listen to my wife.)

I was building another woodshed this year and still may but I’m thinking I’ll try incorporate the ideas here for the first bits.

Usually I stack shoulder height on cinder blocks and 2x4’s or landscape timber’s. The stacks do tend to want to fall, I find the spring thaw causes a lot of movement. I do stack maintenance where I’ll use a floor jack to level then back out before they fall. I still will lose one on occasion.

 

I just started doing this with my outside stacks this past summer. So far, so good.
