I looked it up, and they are not cheap. If they work as good as they look, I would say money well spent.

Wow. And check out the competitor Jason Wynyard, he uses these axes for his speed chopping. All I can say is wow, if anyone can bring him to one of the FHC get togethers.....you'll get something done.

 

I have been looking at these, How well does it bust up wood. How long did you have to wait for it. Also price isnt to bad converted to the US dollar.

 

I split all hardwoods,red oak,hard maple etc. all large rounds. I use it a lot love its weight and handle design. The width of the blade is also nice. Had to wait about 6 weeks to get but great company to deal with no problems even with the shipping. I would do it again.

I have the Bailey's competition /work ax. I really like a big ax. For coastal softwood like Sitka spruce and red cedar or cottonwood.
For the Interior, I prefer my 5 lb rafting ax and believe it or not , the X27. Species like Silver Poplar, White spruce and birch.
Imho there is nothing better when splitting big soft wood . Than a competition chopping ax.
Buck a round, (4-9' diameter ) flop it on the ground step up on it and start in. Sometimes I would use a 12" falling wedge to open up the center crack then it's off to the races. Excellent practice for speed chopping.
