I had all last week off of work, and I spent it trying to sort out my wood mess in and around my garage and basement wood shop. It was a little more of a monumental task than I realized, but I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. I finished milling my hard maple logs and ended up with this pile of scraps for firewood. Got that CSS'd and topped off the behind the garage storage - about a 1/2 cord. I also had a trailer load of shorts and uglies that I took back to the burn pit, and I raked up a trailer load of chainsaw chips and noodles and dumped those in a couple low spots on my trails. But the firewood mess was nothing compared to my lumber milling mess. It was scattered through my entire garage and basement. I finally got that all stickered and stacked in one bay of the garage. This all came from my own and my sisters property and was chainsaw milled by yours truly. Black walnut, hard and soft maple, white ash, black locust, and red pine. Ended my vacation with a little more firewood. Some long dead black locust that's ready to burn. I've got a little under a cord of that in the log pile that I'm going to CSS right onto the front porch and burn in Jan-Feb.
Weather looks warm & sunny Good use of the week off Awesome stacks What you plan to build stuff with the milled wood ?
It's about time you straighten your act up Everything looks great Shawn, now all you have to do is sit back and watch everything dry
But is it more fun to watch your grass grow or your wood dry? That is the question to ponder.... ....
Well there's a work bench in there with a hard maple top. There's going to be a few soft maple + walnut cutting boards ready for Christmas too I think.
I actually do, but I've never liked the results I got from it. Probably because I had never used a regular hand plane either. Maybe after I get a feel for one of those, I'll give it another shot.
