This years batch, bought in Sept. 2014, are the cleanest, hottest burning Somersets I have ever had. I have burned probably around 30 ton of them over the years. Anyone else's opinions.
Didn't get any this season but have close to a ton from last (yes, I'm saving them...lol) They were the same as your experience...They are my favorite box pellet!!! Glad to hear they are great for you. I email a woman named Sandy down at Somerset every few weeks to see if they are shipping pellets up to my area...so far none up this way
They still burn hot for me...They seem to have some longer pellets than usual, but it doesn't seem to make any difference in my stove. As long as I can get them, I will burn them every year.
Local Do It Best hardware store has them $5.99/bag. I've tried them, not as snappy as the spf softies I'm used to...
I have a few tons from last years batch. They seem really ashy. Anyone else notice this? Good heat, but they're making a mess in the CPM.
Yeah, the heat's fine, but for some strange reason the ash is piling up in front of the burnpot, and eventually covers the airwash, and then the window soots up. It's burning fine other than that, nice gray ash. Just was having to clean it more than I'd like. I have the furnace running now, burning up the corn. The CPM only runs when we're gone for the day. I just dumped bag #2 in for December.
they burn great in the new e2. The temps I get out of this stove on low with sets are 50 deg. higher than the old stove on low. I have burned a few other pellets, chow, natures own and this stove really doesn't care. Only issues are left over ash left in the burn pot causes misfires on restarts. I'd like to get some softies to test against my sets. For the price I pay, sets are gonna be tough to beat. Doggy
The unicorn pellet.... I've heard about it on forums... it's fables... but it's hanging out with the leprechauns me thinks
Tried a couple bags of Somersets over the past two days, loved them. Went back today and picked up a ton. $249 per @ TSC Coventry RI.
