Been a while since we've milled with Winter and mud season. buzz-saw invited me over for some milling and to try out his custom made cookie jig. Milled some cedar and sliced up several logs (cedar and black locust) for cookies. Tried one at an angle. Jig worked like a charm. He saved this really cool heart shaped round...red maple.
Awesome! Those cookies on the angle look great. Hope you can dry them without cracking. I'm about to head out to do some milling too. Mine will be the slow hard type w/ a csm.
Nothing wrong with that I have at least one that I’m gonna have to chainsaw mill to fit it on the bandsaw , it is just too big I’ll feel your pain when I tackle that one
Ill put them in the lower level here as its cooler and they'll dry slower. The round ones are for wedding table centerpieces. BL cookies for my oldest stepdaughters yard/garden. Gave her some i cut with the chainsaw already. Have fun milling and post pics.
Folks keep your eyes peeled for a large branch elbow. Not a three way but an elbow. (Tho that may be interesting too) Cut cookies out of that on an angle. Makes some neat cookies. Looks like you’re all having fun.
Looks like a fun time! That's the kind of stuff you can do all day. buzz-saw it looks like the cookie jug was a success!
He turned the remnant angled cedar log into a nice address post set next to his front door. Burned in the number and a coating of linseed oil
Yes , Thanks. The jig seems like it works really well. A big plus is I can just leave it on the saw and it is not in the way when I am not using it.
