I'm "chompin at the bit" for the wood pile and struggling with feeling like a wuss, I hate working up wet, muddy wood!
We quit burning yesterday and have next years wood put up, prolly close to the next 2 years actually. I've finished my winter (indoor) shop projects, it's close but a little early to "un-plow" the tractor & dress it back to it's firewood mode and the snow (in the shaded woods) is still shin deep and miserable to walk through.
I guess I'm bored, so here are some booring pics from my walk over to my lonely wood & mud area from earlier today.
DSCN9283.JPG Well I guess I'm gaining some, this ^^ is from 3 weeks ago.

    Today below.

I’m with you 100% fuelrod! Come on sunshine! Melt the snow and dry things up a little already. Jeesh it’s been a long hard winter. I’m just glad I’m not up in the county anymore. They still have a few feet on the ground. Mud season up there might go well into May this year. Wouldn’t be the first time.

My least favorite time of year by far...spring/mud season.

At least it'll be followed by summer! Eventually...

Is it just me, or do the seasons seem to be running a bit behind schedule in general? Seems that way to me lately.

I feel your pain. This time last year I'd already processed five cord of shoulder wood as I recall, and hauled home a dozen truckloads of red maple. So far this year I've hauled home nothing and css exactly one truckload of wood during the February thaw we had.

I look forward to the first time in spring that while in your woods, you can actually smell something, the woods & earth that is.
There's no "smell" in the winter cold & snow. I may just be goofy but I noticed this about 5 years ago on a warm spring day, that is the absence of any "smell" up until that point.

I love the smell of the woods in the spring and fall especially. Nice and earthy. It’s nice to see green starting to show up too, like crocuses.

Lots of plow damage to lawns as most storms came after the ground thawed. Looking forward to some sun and nicer temperatures. At least we are gaining time on daylight.

Yeah I guess you’re right about that. Of course, most winters lately haven’t been nearly as cold or snowy. The syrup season is getting shorter too they claim.

I haven't ventured into the woods yet because it's a giant mess, but i saw my next door neighbor earlier as he was coming out the trail in my backyard, and he told me there's lots of storm damage from the 2nd nor'easter to be had. I'll have to take a look see and size things up. Wish I had a 4wheeler to drag a trailer in there.

If you drink anything with a “generous drizzle of chocolate syrup” topped with another “garnish with another chocolate syrup drizzle,” I think you have to turn in your man card...
