It's gotta be green. Stove bright has an emerald green that should work.
    I'll surprise her.

I've only used black acrylic enamel and built a dozen of them ...it will not burn off if your fire basket is the right size

I wish I had taken pictures as things went along but I have a tough time remembering my name let alone to document things. Got the old upright freezer and as time permitted have tinkered this summer converting and doing it as cheaply as possible. Ripped out all the cold making parts, chopped holes, made racks/hang poles, cannibalized a side burner from a shot gas grill, raided my "you are a junk hoarder" collection for pipe, angle iron, thermometers, and wood. Only parts bought so far is the self tappers and tin to skin over where the plastic was removed on the inside. I've read that a person should "season" it with a couple empty smoke sessions and it seems to work, curious though when it gets colder this fall how temps will run. Right now with it warm out, if I want to cold smoke I would need to take out propane and put an electric hot plate in because on my lowest setting on propane with as insulated as the freezer is it runs 225°. Any of you experienced fellers know what I can expect on my lowest propane setting when ambient temps get down into say the 20s, or since it is insulated will it still run 225°? 20210914_215554.jpg 20210914_214428.jpg 20210914_214905.jpg

Goose jerky gets made here also. Often. Great eats. Enjoy.
